Created in 1988, the AFPC  is a single structure grouping together nearly all the professionals in the French smart card sector, namely 16 companies representing a very complete range of expertise :

• Manufacturers of media
• Manufacturers of production or personalisation equipment
• Insertion
• Personalisation
• Engineering
• Development and service
• Insertion of micro-circuits
• Etc

The AFPC's members represent a considerable weight of economic influence. As an indication, its four main players : Gemalto, Giesecke & Devrient, Oberthur et Sagem alone represent about 10,000 jobs of which there are about 5,000 in France.
